How can I be made right with God?

Our Christian faith is solely based on the writings of Scripture and our understanding of who Jesus is. This is the message in a nutshell:

God created humanity in His image.  He loved us and gave us the freedom to choose to live in a love relationship with Him or live to serve ourselves.  All humans have chosen to live as their own gods. We are all sinners or unGodly.  Therefore, we were destined for God’s punishment.  John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son (as a sacrifice for our sins) so that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life”.

We broke our relationship with God to serve ourselves.  We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, but God, in his great love for us, he sent his son to die on a cross for our sins.  Through the sacrifice of Jesus, we can ask for forgiveness and be rejoined in right relationship with God.  We need to understand that when we recognize our sinfulness and see how much God loves us, that the only response is Total Surrender to Him.

Salvation is not a free ticket to Heaven or a free pass on the consequences of our sin.  Salvation through faith in Jesus includes an understanding of our need for God but it also includes a real personal desire to know and serve God with your life.  There is a great difference between Needing God and Loving God.

If you desire to be made right with God and you recognize both your need for Him and your deep desire to know and love Him, then being made right with God is simple.  Confess that you have been living for yourself instead of for God.  Confess your sins to Him.  Ask for his forgiveness believing that Jesus has already paid the price for your sins. Ask Him to become Lord of your life.  Ask Him to make you a new creation.  At that point, you have become a Christian!  Understand though, that a real love relationship with God through Jesus will change everything!  He will begin to call you to change your priorities and values to match His.  It will be a slow process that will last for the rest of your life.  You will fall short at times, but as long as you stay in relationship with Him, he will forgive you and stay by your side until you reach eternity.
